Dimensions: 8,7 x 6 cm. Poids 174 gr.

An early 19th Century French gold and enamelled Royal presentation snuff-box, marks of Paris 1809-1819 by Victoire Boizot.
The cover with monogram of Charles Philippe, Comte d'Artois, on sablé ground with enamelled fleurs de lys spandrels within a raised frame with a blue enamel band to the edge, the sides with engine-turned chequered lozenge panel within borders of translucent blue enamel over a wavy ground, engraved to the underside of the cover "Donnée par le Roi à M. Queignard de Valdene, le 16 Février 1826"

Victoire Boizot was the widow of the renowned goldsmith Etienne Blerzy. She entered her mark in 1808 and it was destroyed in 1813, dating that box quite precisely to 1808-1813, while Charles Philippe was still Comte d'Artois and the inscription tells us that the box was only gifted during his reign as king.
