Both depictions show the train in far, in the distance hilly landscape with castles. One of the pictures shows lansquenets accompanied by women with a trailing covered wagon, a young man carrying geese and a woman with a booty sack. It is possible that this is a raid. In contrast, the scenery refers to the concomitant phenomena of the Turkish War: the leader riding ahead next to a camel held by a Turk, followed by prisoners and Turkish figures tied up between lansquenets with halberds. On the right edge of the picture a memento mori motif in the form of a riding skeleton with raised hourglass, accompanied by two other figures with scythe and spear. A conspicuous feature in both pictures is a rooster or a hen on a covered wagon. The pair of paintings in the sense of the historical events of the 17th century of importance.
