Uniformly laid on green handmade paper with gold edging, framed behind glass in Biedermeier frame.
Executed in high and artistically original quality, each gouache shows a dance-like depiction of Death, which carries a figure with it. Shown here are a corpulent cook whose swivel head with chicken is shouldered by Death, a bishop in vestments, a Capuchin monk, a queen whom Death approaches in reverence, a virgin looking at herself in the mirror, and, just as originally, a Chinese Mandarin, whereby even Death itself has Asian traits
